Attendance, Waiver of Compulsory

Parents may use an “Application for Waiver of Compulsory Attendance” for absences that are not related to illness, emergencies or inclement weather. Waivers must be returned to the principal two weeks in advance of the date for which approval is requested. For the absence to be declared an excused absence, approval must be granted by the building principal. Application forms are available in the school office.

 

Late Arrivals

If a student is going to be late for school, but needs a school lunch, please phone the school by 9:45 a.m. to let us know that we need to order your child a lunch. If you are unable to call please pack a lunch for your child.

 

Busses

When your child needs to change the bus that he/she travels to or from school for a day a TEMPORARY SCHOOL BUS PASS is needed. Passes are issued on a limited basis and are not always granted due to bus capacity. It is important that you use the following procedure.

• Write a note to your child’s teacher that includes the following:

  • your child’s name

  • date you would like the change to take place

  • which bus you would be transferring from and which bus you would like to transfer to for that day

  • the name of the child they will be traveling with

  • bus stop where your child will get off

  • your signature

• If the request is for a “pick up,” this needs to be done the day before the change.

• It is not always possible to grant the temporary bus pass because a bus may be at capacity. Please be sure to leave a contact number so that you can be notified should this occur.

Moving/Changing of Address and Phone Numbers 

Should you move either within our area or out of the area, please let the office know so we can contact transportation and/or the new school about records.

 

The length of time of turn around on both land line and cell phone numbers is getting shorter and shorter. We have had a few instance where someone has changed from one service provider to another and in less than a month the old number has been reassigned. This can cause problems when we need to leave an urgent messages for parent. Please notify the school immediately when your phone number has been changed or is no longer active.

 

Medication

The Butler Area School District does not supply ANY prescription or nonprescription medication, but we will cooperate with parents and their medical practitioners when medications must be given during school hours.

 

Party Invitations

Party invitations may be given out at school ONLY under the following conditions:

• Invitations are for the whole class
• Invitations are for all of the girls in the class 
• Invitations are for all of the boys in the class
